mother/son and dad/daughter dance

Chicago Heights School District 170's Wilson School celebrated the parent-child bond while holding its first annual Mom/Son; Dad/Daughter Dance in the school gymnasium on Thursday, February 7th.

Parents, children, and staff danced the night away to music provided by "DJ Mike," the father of teacher Marissa Warner.

Staff members who sponsored the dance included Keli Burgess, Tenika Knox, Rania Njiemoun, Keturah Byrd, Maura Chlada, Danielle Callahan, and Tricia Kelliher.

"The evening was a success because it provided an opportunity for the Wilson family to connect with our service community and to strengthen the bond between the school staff and the students' families," Burgess said.

"About 80 guests attended, and the event saw fathers dancing with their daughters, mothers dancing with their sons, and people playing board games as a way for families to engage with each other."

Everyone had a wonderful time at the event, and they are looking forward to recreating the magic next year.
