The choir from Chicago Heights School District 170's Wilson School recently performed at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration that was held at the Chicago Heights Public Library.
Katrina Moore, the Librarian and Choir Director led the group in two songs, "Lift Every Voice," by James Weldon Johnson, and "My God is Awesome," by Charles Jenkins.
"We selected those numbers because they embody Dr. King's words and philosophy: 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that; hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that'," Moore said.
After the performance, the choir took photos with dignitaries including Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez and others attending the event.
