Kindergarten students from Chicago Heights School District 170's Jefferson School recently designed and submitted decorations to Chicago Heights' Old Second Bank as part of the financial institutions first annual "Wishing Tree."

On the back of each decoration, the students were asked to write down a gift of $25 or less that they would like to receive for Christmas.

Kristy Gabriel, Old Second Bank's Teller-Supervisor initiated Jefferson School's participation in the activity by contacting school principal Christopher Baikauskas.

The goal of the endeavor is to make the holiday wishes of students from area schools a reality through the generosity of the staff and clients of the Old Second Bank.

"Old Second Bank is an amazing community partner who is always supportive of activities at our school," declared Baikauskas.

"We are very excited by the bank's generosity in inviting our school to participate in this inaugural activity, and hope that events such as this one will become annual traditions that are enthusiastically embraced by all of the Jefferson School family."

Kindergarten teacher Cherie Galle who was Jefferson School's coordinator for the "Wishing Tree" event was thrilled about the opportunity afforded her students.

"I am so thankful that, because of Old Second Bank, all of my students can have a nice Christmas," she said.
