Kennedy School Celebrates Dr. Seuss Read Across America Week

CHSD170's Kennedy School recently celebrated Dr. Seuss Read Across America Spirit Week by conducting a PBIS Dance Party in conjunction with a series of activities promoting a love of reading and in celebration of the birthday of the renowned author.

During the "Wacky Wednesday" celebration students and staff dressed in mismatched outfits, enjoyed the dance party, participated in 15-minute reading challenges, and viewed Dr. Seuss videos. Additional activities celebrated the joy of reading and students received themed incentives for completing reading logs.

"We wanted to celebrate Read Across America Week with a series of activities that would get our students excited about reading," said Caitlin Szlenk, a member of the Kennedy PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) Team.

"They loved having the opportunity to celebrate their reading goals and accomplishments and had a blast dressing up with our Dr. Seuss themes for the week."

"The entire school did a great job coming together to show just how wonderful and fun reading can be!" she concluded.
